The organization

The organization Meet Africa in the Netherlands was founded and runned by Lianne van Rijssel. She informs people about the possibilities of voluntary work or internship, organizes information sessions and leads the preparatory weekends. In addition,  she does  the administration and maintains close contact with the people of the partner organizations in Ghana, Cameroon and Malawi.

Meet Africa is working with 18 selected partner organizations in Africa; 13 in Ghana, 2 in Cameroon and 3 in Malawi. With all partner organizations are close and personal contacts. They share the vision and personal and honest method of Meet Africa. The partner organization takes care of the reception of volunteers and interns, is organizing a number of release days, arrange for a safe and welcoming host family, provides guidance in the workplace and is always there in case of problems, questions, etc. Volunteers and interns will always be on small distance from the partner organization, so intensive personal contact and quick help is easy to accomplish.
The partner organizations are located in the villages and towns in Ghana: Tamale (Northern Ghana), Bolgatanga (Northern Ghana), Karimenga (about 30 km south of Bolgatanga), Kumasi (central Ghana), Ejisu (25 east of Kumasi), Atsiekpoe (South Ghana, about 2 hours north-east of Accra), Kasoa (South Ghana, ca 1.5 hours west of Accra), Busua (on the coast in western Ghana) and Wli (eastern Ghana, approx 1 hour west of Hohoe). In Cameroon in the towns: Mamfe (west Cameroon) and Foumbot (Central Cameroon between Bafoussam and Foumban).
